Where to find a sea of clouds in Spain
You may have flown over the clouds on a plane, and, once there, you may have taken some photos of the views, before leaving them behind. Not a common scenery. Fortunately, on your trip through Spain you will find mountain locations covered by a sea of clouds, which you can cross to experience the closeness and peace of being between the clouds and the sky.

Viewpoint of the Pico de los Pozos de las Nieves, Gran Canaria
On the Canary Islands you can usually enjoy this natural wonder. For example, at the Pico de los Pozos de las Nieves, in the heart of Gran Canaria, which rises to 1,949 metres of altitude. There, a semicircle of stone delimits the viewpoint from which you can see the Roque Nublo camouflaged in a sea of clouds. This iconic natural monument is located in the town of Tejeda. From there, you can take a route to the Roque Nublo viewpoint. This natural balcony shares the sea of cotton with its neighbouring peak. We recommend waiting for sunset, because the landscape, with the Teide in the background, becomes particularly magical at that time of day.

Viewpoint of the Fuente del Chivo, Cantabria
Following the road that climbs from Reinosa until you reach the Alto Campo ski resort, at 2,000 metres of altitude, the Fuente del Chivo viewpoint crowns the spectacular views at your feet. A sea of clouds usually forms and seems to merge with the horizon, with the peaks of the surrounding mountains just visible. From this road, with the highest paved section of Cantabria, you can see the Picos de Europa. If you plan to visit in winter, it will be covered in snow that you can ski on. Nearby, there is the spring of icy water that the viewpoint takes its name from.

O Cebreiro, Lugo
The scenery near the village of O Cebreiro tends to reach towards a sea of clouds, especially during sunrise. The sponginess of the landscape and the intense colours of the sky merge into a beautiful and sweet panorama. When winter came and the fog enveloped this village in the upper area of Os Ancares, the bells of O Cebreiro rang to guide the pilgrims. The village is on the French Camino de Santiago. Additionally, it features a spectacular pre-Romanesque church and picturesque pallozas (stone houses with thatched roofs, also traditional in pre-Roman culture).

Roque de los Muchachos viewpoint, La Palma
At 2,426 metres above sea level, Roque de los Muchachos is the highest point on the island of La Palma. It borders the north end of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, so it offers unmatched views. If the day is clear, you will be able to recognise the silhouette of some islands on the water (La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife). From its viewpoint, you can enjoy a show of low clouds, since the climate, the trade winds and the island's geographical location lead clouds to form at a lower altitude. From the top, you can enjoy La Palma's quality skies. This is a recommended stargazing spot, a Starlight destination. Moreover, here you will find the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory.
