Accessing the walled enclosure

This is one of the entrances to Dalt Vila's walled enclosure. It connects the current Reina Sofía park with the Plaza del Sol, through a stepped tunnel 50 metres long and 3 metres high. It is crowned by the coat of arms of the Crown of Aragon. The name Portal Nou (New Portal) is probably due to the fact that it replaced the old Portal dels Aiguaders, which disappeared after the construction of the Renaissance walls.
