The Naval Museum opened its doors in its current location on Paseo del Prado in 1932. The museum is home to collections depicting Spain's naval history as well as a panoramic tour of the marine paintings from other countries. Inside, an impressive ethnographic collection is on display in chronological order, from the era of the Catholic Monarchs up to the present day. It features coin collections, military decorations, maps, paintings, nautical and scientific instruments, artillery, submarine weapons, manuscripts and much more. One of its star attractions is the famous Universal Charter by Juan de la Cosa (1500), considered the first world map to include the Americas.
