In an exceptional palace
The museum is located in the Royal Palace of La Granja, a wonderful example of European palatial architecture in the Sierra del Guadarrama.
The Tapestry Collection of the Crown of Spain is the richest in the world along with that of Vienna. On display at this museum is some of the finest examples of Flemish tapestries, with the oldest dating back to the 16th century. Worth particular mention are the allegorical series “The Honours”, woven by Pierre van Aelst, as well as the series “The Apocalypse”, made for Philip II by Wilhelm Pannemaker and Jan Gheteels.
