It is located in the former Hospital of Santa Cruz de Toledo.
The building dates back to the 16th century and stands out for its Plateresque façade, patio and staircase, the work of Covarrubias, as well as its mudéjar and Renaissance coffered “artesonado” ceilings. The museum divides its collection into three sections: Archaeology, dedicated to Roman, Visigoth, Arab and Mudejar cultures; Fine Arts, with an important display of Toledo painting from the 16th and 17th centuries and works by artists such as El Greco; and Industrial Arts, which features examples of popular culture and local artisan traditions (ceramics, glass, textiles, forging and goldsmithing).
