El Patriarca Museum, National Monument
Paintings in a beautiful setting
It contains works of great value, including several paintings by El Greco and the Flemish Primitives.
The museum is located within the architectural complex of the Patriarch, built in the 16th century and consisting of the Royal College of Corpus Christi, the seminary and the church. The various buildings and rooms are arranged around a large Renaissance cloister. The museum displays a collection of paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as works by Juan de Juanes, El Greco, Caravaggio, Ribera and the Flemish Primitives. Moreover, Ribalta's The Last Supper is still on display in the church's main altar, as well as several Flemish tapestries in the Communion Chapel.
