Albacete

A journey through history

The museum brings us closer to the past and heritage of this place in Castilla-La Mancha.

The museum covers various periods of history, as well as various specialties such as ethnography, numismatics, fine arts and antique photography. It includes an archaeological display from the most ancient and recent past, with notable works such as the so-called Sphinx of Haches or 'Iberian Mona Lisa', a sculpture from several centuries before Christ with a subtle smile. But it also offers everyday objects used by locals until just a few decades ago and an anthological retrospective of local painter Benjamín Palencia, one of the leading figures of 20th-century Spanish painting.
