The history of the Basque people
This museum opened to the public in 1921, housed in a 17th century building in the old town of Bilbao.
It shows the ethnography of the Basque people through various pieces and objects. The intrinsic value of the building, with its central cloister, combines with the wealth of the collections it houses, ranging from the most remote vestiges of the Biscayan homeland to testimonies of the most traditional ways of life. Its halls allow visitors to learn about the world of the sea, fishing and navigation, the iron and weapons industries, trade and commercial activity, traditional trades and crafts. It also schedules temporary monographic exhibitions.
