Located in the region of the Cinco Villas, the Sierra de Santo Domingo is a huge ecological corridor situated between the Ebro valley and the Pyrenees.

This area is one of the most attractive areas of Aragón for rural tourism and hiking. Its geological composition makes it possible to find limestone reliefs whose walls and peaks reach an altitude of up to 1,200 metres. Keuper, the Fuente del Yeso, the Cueva de Cristal de Longás, the Malpaso conglomerates and the Siaskas ravine, in Luesia, are some places that are a must for their beauty and environmental value.

What you need to know

  • Cultural information

    In addition to the landscape and ecological values, the area occupied by these three municipalities has been home to settlements since the Neolithic period. Its cultural heritage includes Romanesque jewels such as the castles of Biel and Luesia or the medieval old town of Longás.

  • Environmental information

    The rich vegetation of the Sierra de Santo Domingo is due to its particular orography and its climatic conditions of temperature and humidity. Its mountains are covered with thick holm oak, pine and beech forests, home to a large population of deer, roe deer, wild boar and foxes. In addition to its diverse wildlife, the mountains are also home to the Apollo butterfly, the Alpine longhorn beetle, as well as bird species like the bearded vulture.

  • Information for visits
