Since 1974, this essential event has brought together locals and visitors from all over the world, eager to taste the empanada in its many forms and flavours. The aroma that fills the streets will whet your appetite. Some are filled with meat, tuna, octopus, cod with raisins, scallops... There are even sweet versions. Every family and baker has their own recipe, and trying them is like a tour of the authentic flavours of Galicia. In addition, a competition is held to award prizes for the best empanadas, with the funds raised going to charity.Although Saturday is the big day, the celebrations extend over several days with a range of activities for local residents, “peña” groups, and visitors. You will enjoy live folk music, with bagpipes, traditional dances and typical regional costumes. You can also pick up a souvenir from the local craft stalls or sample the region's wine.
