Festivals in Spain in February
Carnival is the star of the show on Spain’s festival calendar in February, when processions, fancy dress, music, and fun fill the streets all over the country. As well as the famous Carnivals of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Cádiz, there are great carnival festivities in other places that are also hugely popular, each with its own distinctive flavour - in Águilas, Verín, Badajoz, Xinzo de Limia and las Palmas de Gran Canaria, to give just a few examples. Other spectacular parades that take place during this month are those in honour of the Moors and Christians Festival in Bocairent. And during this month dedicated to love in Spain you have the chance to relive the legend of the ‘Lovers of Teruel’ with the re-enactment of the Wedding of Isabel de Segura. You can also enjoy some of the typical delights of Spanish cuisine such as cocido (a traditional kind of stew), or botillo (a charcuterie meat with a smoky flavour). Here you can see some of the festivals that usually take place in Spain in February:
