Paseo del Espolón in Logroño

Paseo del Espolón (Logroño)

La Rioja

In the centre of the city of Logroño, situated between the old town and the urban expansion, is the Paseo del Príncipe de Vergara. It is also known as the Paseo del Espolón due to its similarity to the famous boulevard in Burgos. Its origins date back to the 18th century. It is known for its huge statue of General Espartero, who lived in this city following his return from exile in London until his death in 1879, as well as the impressive set of pruned plane trees that encircle it.
